Panaji: Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Hutatma Smruti Smarak at Patradevi, Goa, and laid a wreath to pay tribute to the brave freedom fighters who fought against Portuguese rule during the historic struggle for Goa’s liberation.
On the occasion, the Hon’ble Defence Minister also planted a tree sapling as a symbol of remembrance, resilience and hope.
The Defence Minister also released the book “Martyrs of Goa”, which honours the patriotism, bravery and valour of the martyrs who made immense sacrifices during Goa’s Freedom Struggle.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant , Union MoS for Power Shri Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Tourism Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte, Fisheries Minister Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, PWD Minister Shri Digambar Kamat, MLAs Shri Premendra Vishnu Shet, Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, Shri Pravin Arlekar and Shri Jit Arolkar, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, Collector (North) Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, President of the Goa, Daman & Diu Freedom Fighters Association Shri Rohidas Desai, freedom fighters and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.
