Panaji: In an apparent jibe at the BJP, Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said on Sunday that the BJP is known for its ‘U-turns’ and could even assure voters that it would bring stars from heaven for them.
Releasing a video on his social media handles, Sardesai said the BJP makes big promises before elections and offers big excuses after them.
“In 2021, the BJP government promised 16,000 litres of free water per household and three free LPG cylinders every year to Goans. Five years later, Goans are still waiting for delivery. We reminded them about their manifesto promises. They did nothing,” Sardesai pointed out, adding that BJP government should have given 15 LPG’s by now.
He said that after the Opposition raised these issues, the BJP made some more promises.
“Women were made to stand in queues and complete formalities for Rs 3,000 assistance. Yet, nearly two-thirds reportedly remain unpaid. Promise before elections, delay after elections, and twist words when questioned. This is the BJP’s record of governance in Goa,” he said.
Sardesai appealed to Goans to remember these broken promises and hold the government accountable.
“The BJP’s Standard Operating Procedure is lying to voters before elections, and they promise anything (which they fail to deliver) in their manifesto. They could even assure voters that they will bring stars from the heaven and give them to them,” Sardesai said.
