Panaji: Reacting to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement, Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that peons are allegedly running ministers’ portfolios, and some are even preparing to contest elections and become MLAs.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday stated that, in some offices, peons act like bosses and contribute to the public’s negative perception of the administration.
“Nearly Rs 14 crore of taxpayers’ money is being spent on Sarkar Tumchya Dari events through two favoured agencies. At the same time, the Chief Minister himself says that peons have become the new bosses, with MTS staff allegedly running ministers’ portfolios. They have been made so powerful that some of them now aspire to become MLAs by contesting Assembly elections,” Sardesai said.
“When I was a minister, I held weekly meetings for the people of South Goa without spending a single rupee of government money. Instead of wasting crores on publicity, the government must answer for its administrative failures. When peons run ministries and control over governance slips away, it exposes a complete collapse of Goa’s administrative machinery,” Sardesai added.
