Panaji: Former GPCC President Amit Patkar, intensifying his political activities, on Wednesday took up the issue of the regularisation of Goa’s pre-primary teachers.
Along with the teachers, he met Education Secretary Prasad Lolayekar and demanded their regularisation.
Patkar and the teachers warned that if the government fails to resolve their issue by November 30, they will stage a sit-in protest along with their families at the Secretariat in Porvorim.

“They should also be given relaxation to complete any additional training or qualifications required under the new NEP and recruitment rules, as most of them have completed 10 to 25 years of service,” Patkar told media persons.
“For the last 13 years, Goa’s pre-primary teachers have been running from office to office seeking their rights. How long will this government continue to test their patience?” Patkar asked.
He said that these teachers have dedicated 15, 20 and even 25 years of their lives to educating children, yet their job security remains uncertain. The government introduced NEP 2020 but failed to protect the interests of teachers who have been serving the education system for decades.
He said that the double-engine government has failed and that there is a total collapse of the administration.
“I don’t know in which direction this government is going. It is not resolving the issues faced by the common man,” he said.
